Choice List bug?

Currently, it appears that Choice List fields allow for entering multiple instances of the same choice in a list.

For example, if my choice list contains the options “Apple”, “Orange”, and “Banana”, I am allowed to pick “Apple” more than once, and it indeed saves it with multiple “Apples” listed in the field.

Is this the intended behavior?

I think so, because there are use cases where you may want to ability to choose a particular choice more than once. It may be useful to allow a setting to prevent that. That’s a good idea!
