So I created these complicated rules for several tables. 5 rows of permissions for each table. But it seems they are not working because of the order of the rules.
I guess at least.
Does the order of the rules matter?
If they matter, how to change the order without having to use a new row as “memory” to copy and paste each rule in correct order, which is a pain in the ass lol
The order does matter – rules are evaluated top-to-bottom, and once a rule matches with a filled-in box (green “allow” or red “deny”), that’s the permission that applies.
Sorry that we haven’t implemented reordering by dragging!
That’s an entirely sensible feature request! We recently added reordering by dragging for conditional styles, so I know it’s doable. I’d say the extra wrinkle here is that reordering access rules has more serious consequences, so we’d want to ensure it’s not too easy to reorder, so that it can’t happen by accident.
well, but reordering on the Access Rules, just as any change on access rules, already depends on clicking on the SAVE button right? So in THEORY it shouldn´t happen by accident. (however, we end users always find a way to break something. It’s worse than kids playing football inside the house)
+1 on this request. Also to clarify, in addition to reordering multiple rules within a given set of Table Rules, it would also be nice to change the order of the set of Table Rules… or maybe just sort them alphabetically by table name? Currently they just stay in the order they were entered, and now that I have a lot of them, the only (easy) way to find them is by doing a “find on page”.
