Moving documents between Workspaces takes a long time, often results in errors or don´t work!

  1. Why moving documents between Workspaces takes so long? Aren´t workspaces just like “tags” for a document? Duplicating a document is much faster, don´t understand it.

  2. Also, it doesn´t even work correctly. I just moved a document. Then I started getting error messages of not being able to fetch. Then I reloaded and no document could be seen (As if processing in the background). Then when I reloaded again… it loaded again and the document had not been moved. This on grist cloud, not on the self hosted!

Hi @Rogerio_Penna, has this been a persistent problem, or something you saw today specifically? Is it consistent?

I never noticed before because I never tried to create a new workspace and move documents.

it’s happening in this side project I have for a Quality Prize of Accounting Companies of the state. Which is hosted online at Grist site.

Over 3 minutes at this screen after clicking “move”

Thanks for reporting @Rogerio_Penna, this explains a problem we saw in our service today. Will work on making the move operation behave sanely with larger team sizes.

Thanks Paul. Just to be more specific then, since you said the problem is larger team sites.

As you can see in the screenshot, I was able to move 2 documents to the new Workgrup.

Those two documents were for testing, so they had few users linked TO THE DOCUMENT.

So the problem is probably not the amount of Team Size (which I suppose is related to Team Site)

But users linked to each document?

I haven’t worked on a replication of the problem yet so can’t confirm details. @jarek is looking at this now.
