Newly created accounts have no intuitive password reset

If accidentally the newly created password for a new Grist account before the first login,

it isn’t possible to reset it via “forgot password”. → “An account with the given email already exists.”

it is however possible to get a new verification code,
from which the password can be reset.

That seems less than ideal.

Thanks for reporting. I think the issue is primarily with an email verification code. We’ll try to improve this behavior.
