I just discovered grist 3 days ago while browsing all the ActivePieces integrations and when I discovered it, oh man! I could not stop watching tutorials during the last 72h to check if we adopt them and today we made the decission to go with it in several of our startups.
I just launched the docker core and saw there’s no “catalan” language.
I’d be more than happy to start the “catalan translation” and, in case we not only fall in love but remain in love, keep it up to date.
I’ve seen the Weblate thing, but I never used weblate before. I’ve read the post on jan’23 and okey, it says weblate but I can’t see anything else. Should I register into weblate and go ahead with the hosted weblate thing? Or should I run weblate locally in a docker cloning some original data, weblating it and committing in a PR or how it works?

Hi @Xavi_Montero, thanks for the offer! You should be able to just register with weblate online, then visit Grist @ Hosted Weblate and start a new language for Grist.
I created the account, I navigate to the Grist project and I see 3 components.
While in calendar widgets and client there’s a “+” sign to the left of the language, there’s no “+” in the “Grist / Glossary”.
Is “Grist / Glossary” some kind of cache from the others?
The Glossary I think is some kind of special Weblate component to assist with translation in some way. I see that Catalan is now listed for it, perhaps automatically?
Indeed. Automatically. I opened ‘catalan’ only in grist/client. I did not touch the “glossary” thing.

I’ve finished adding the Greek language translation.
Some exact translations are not super intuitive, but I’ll check all of that
as soon as it’s published.

I have started translation to Swedish.

Initial translation complete, live in our production environment.
Some notes:
“Fiddle mode” does not quite exist in Swedish and is replaced with text mening: mode for experimentation.
Same with mapping values, replaced with word similar to connecting/refering.
The meanings of the word table has been difficult to translate sometimes since it may refer to a:
Table widget
Table in widget
Raw table
Summary table
And for example raw table may be called raw data table, data table or table depending on context.
But the hardest was to translate access rules texts. In Swedish the conceptsfor acces is rather called permissions or access rights. Thus the whole sentence rewrites was needed.
